BCT and the Economy

Why does a BCT generally continue to grow when the rest of the economy is in a downturn? There are a number of factors.

The population and the number of businesses in general continue to grow. There is constant change with regard to zip codes, area codes, company titles, and people changing employers, SO THE DEMAND CONTINUES TO GROW. Business cards are a low-cost item and seldom part of "business cost reduction" program.

Our product mix is also changing and increasing the overall revenue. There was a time when our primary customer was the “quick printer.” The quick printer would print the stationery and send us the business cards. In today’s marketplace, we see more and more non-printing businesses such as print brokers, large warehouse type office supply companies, and postal centers. Since these businesses don’t have printing presses, BCT produces the stationery, rubber stamps, and labels. Additionally, the trade publication called Business Forms, Labels and Systems (known as the publication for distributors of printed products) says that this segment of the industry (outsourcing) is growing in number by 15% to 20% a year.

Three additional factors contribute to BCT growth which includes; OrderPrinting.com (OPC) sales which locks-in the end user to their printer. These end-users tend to be larger companies with a constant flow of orders; secondly, the growth of our four color process (full color) product line which is short run in nature which caters to printers and print brokers that choose not to invest in the equipment required to produce this product line and lastly, the addition of an outside customer service staff to go out and get new business.
